Hello and welcome.

I have lived in this ward my entire life.  I am raising my family in this ward.  I have dedicated my time to help this ward succeed and grow. 

From helping start community groups that bring neighbours together, working with local food banks, working with the Life Skills Program helping at-risk youth, to being a member of the Toronto Police Service, 41 Division CPLC (Community Police Liaison Committee), a community group that helps residents bring their issues forward to the TPS with suggestions to helps make their community safer.

I am entering my ninth year on my children's school parent council, where I have been elected as co-chair the past two years.  I feel this very important position in our school system has given me incredible knowledge of issues concerning students, parents and teachers.  I have helped other local school councils on fundraising and individual school issues.  I have worked with Safe Schools to create a safer area around our school, getting stop signs installed, and bullying prevention.

One of my goals, if elected, would be to see every school in Ward 10 have an active, supported and engaged parent and student council.  I believe they are the voice of school and neighborhood communities.

I will advocate for school funding to give students equal learning, enjoyment and experiences throughout their school career. A student should not miss out on a school field trip because they do not have the funds to pay. 

​

The Ontario government is in the process of creating a "call centre" where parents can voice their concerns.  Parents should not be a number in a queue.  The trustee's role is important as it still maintains the human connection.

​

I have been a manager at my places of employment for over 25 years. I deal with budgets, conflict resolution, and staffing.  I have worked with all three levels of government to make our communities better and safer. These are all assets that I know will make me a trustee you can rely on.

​

A school trustee cannot create the curriculum, but I do believe a trustee's role is to make the community's position heard.  I will advocate for students to have a better balance with technology.  We need more textbook reading and writing.  It's time to put more pen to paper back in the classroom. 

I have connected with some elementary school teachers who have expressed concern that screen time is taking away from the students' individual thinking process.

This is our community and we need to make sure our government knows that each school in Ward 10 is unique.  I believe that the insight I have in the Ward 10 schools and communities that surrounds them is incredibly valuable.
